Partners Mutual Insurance Company is a Midwest-based insurance company supplying auto, homeowners, and commercial policies for individuals and businesses in Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin. The company name indicates its goal to treat policyholders as partners, providing an entire line of insurance services, from policy-writing to fast claim payments.
The company distributes its policies through independent agents. These professional agents representing Partners Mutual have solid knowledge of the market, sound business philosophy and well accepted practices that assure satisfying and profitable agency affiliation. Fast service is assured by Partners Mutual, as well as utmost consideration to all aspects of its business–from underwriting, to marketing, and claims. Policies are administered with the best interests of agents and clients in mind. There is also an exceptional turnaround time for claims.
Founded by Herbert Ewert Sr. on June 11, 1931, the company insured automobiles exclusively in Wisconsin under the name Badger State Casualty Company Limited Mutual. It changed its name to Badger State Mutual Casualty Company in 1956. In 1957, the company started writing homeowner and fire insurance. Ten years after, it enhanced its services by adding commercial multi-peril, workers compensation, and other commercial lines to its portfolio. The company’s operating area was expanded to include the state of Michigan in 1959 and the state of Iowa in 1972. Herbert Ewert Jr. and Charles Ewert, Herbert Ewert Sr’s sons, succeeded him in managing the company in 1964. On February 20, 1992, the company adopted the name of Partners Mutual Insurance Company, selected to remove the regional concept of the former name. This reflects the complimentary company-agent-policyholder relationship and the company’s continuing commitment to its many agents and policyholders across the Midwest.
Richard Ewert is Partners Mutual’s President and Chief Executive Officer, while Mark Ewert serves as the Executive Vice President. Gregory Bergner is the Secretary and Vice President for underwriting. The Vice President for claims is Kenneth Shea, while. John Klug holds the position of the company Treasurer. Charles Ewert serves as the Chairman of the Board.
Partners Mutual offers a wide range of personal and commercial insurance products. Personal insurance products include supreme auto program, elite homeowners policy, renter’s package, and personal umbrella package. Partners Mutual’s supreme auto program provides outstanding rates for preferred drivers, while the elite homeowners policy is intended to help protect the home and personal property of clients from damage that may occur from natural causes or other unforeseen circumstances. The renter’s package provides excellent coverage for personal property and personal liability at affordable pricing. Furthermore, personal umbrella package places a second layer of protection of $1 million (or more if requested) over the usual insurance coverage, assuring clients of adequate protection against financial loss due to large judgments, foreclosures, and defense costs.
The company’s business products include auto garage program providing insurance for gasoline service stations, mechanical repair shops, auto body repair, auto upholstery shops, tire dealers, car washes, parking lot/storage facilities, and auto parts stores with repair facilities. Partner Mutual’s business owner’s program provides insurance for apartments/motels, mini-warehouses, offices, retail stores, and selected processing and service establishments, while the contractor business owner’s program provides liability, property, inland marine, and crime coverage for small to medium sized contractors.
Partners Mutual also offers other business programs which give clients additional insurance coverage options. Added business programs include commercial automobile insurance, workers’ compensation coverage, commercial package policy and commercial umbrella. Commercial automobile insurance is for commercial automobiles not used as public or livery conveyance for passengers. The workers’ compensation coverage, on the other hand, is for legal obligation imposed upon an employer by the workers’ compensation or any occupational disease law of a state. The commercial package policy, a specially tailored insurance coverage for businesses that have unique characteristics, includes property, general liability, crime, inland marine, and business interruption. Lastly, commercial umbrella provides excess insurance over automobile, general liability, employer’s liability, and watercraft liability policies.
