    Crawford Ellis, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, founded the company in 1911 with three other distinguished individuals: Dr. Edward Simmons, a life insurance expert, Dr. Marion Souchon, a eminent surgeon and physician, and Eugene McGivney, a corporate lawyer. Together they established Pan-American Life to supply the needs of individuals and businesses in Central and South America and the United States. In March 1912, the company issued its first life insurance policy and was on its way to becoming the first company known to be serving the Americas.

    José Suquet is the company’s Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer. Eugenio Magdalena serves as the Executive Vice President-International, who oversees all of the operations where Pan-American Life has a presence in Latin America, including the international dollar and mass marketing business areas. Carlos Mickan is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Pan-American Life, overseeing all financial operations of the company. The Senior Vice President for domestic markets is John Foley. He provides leadership and oversees all areas within Special Markets, US Hispanic, Worksite and the Puerto Rico health business. Patrick Fraizer serves as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and general counsel, while Bruce Parker is the Senior Vice President of Global Life Insurance. Felix Martinezis the Senior Vice President and Regional President for International Dollar Sales, is responsible for developing international markets and managing the international individual insurance and group international operations in countries where Pan-American Life has a corporate presence. Rodolfo Revuelta serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, responsible for the corporate and mortgage-backed securities portfolios of Pan-American’s U.S. and Latin American branches and affiliates. Karen Chauvin, the Chief Information Officer, assumes responsibility for helping the company maintain the integrity of its records and systems and the flow of communications. Marta Reeves, the Vice President for Corporate Marketing, leads Pan-American Life’s marketing operations, maintaining and strengthening communications and sales-support to its network of domestic and international insurance agencies, agents, policyholders and the public.

    A.M. Best provides a rating of A (Excellent) to Pan-American Life, reflecting excellent financial strength, operating performance and market profile as measured by Best’s established and objective standards. Pan-American Life received an A rating (Strong) with Stable Outlook from Fitch, showing strong capacity to meet policyholder and contract obligations.
